Occupational Therapy
Our community based Occupational Therapy team are here to assist patients and their family/whanau.
When a disability, illness, injury or limitations due to age, limits your ability to maintain or participate in activities of everyday life or occupations.
Our team have extensive knowledge in a range of areas, including:
- Education advice and recommendations on a range of helpful equipment that could assist with daily activities;
- Assess and assist with funding for essential provision of equipment or alterations to your home to increase independence;
- Assessment, information and rehabilitation that could assist with retraining yourself to do things differently to allow greater independence;
- Education on a range of specialty areas including disabilities, stress management, relaxation, lottery and grants for equipment needs.
Patients are referred to the Occupational Therapy Service from any health care professional or provider or patients or family members may also self-refer to the service.
Our Occupational Therapy service is free to all patients who are eligible for health care in New Zealand hospitals.
