Who Qualifies for a Free Flu Vaccine in New Zealand?
In New Zealand, the flu vaccine is funded for those most at risk of severe illness from the flu. This includes:
- People aged 65 years and over.
- Pregnant women.
- Children aged 4 years and under who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness or have a history of significant respiratory illness.
- People with long-term health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease.
- Individuals with reduced immune function.
- People with specific long term mental health conditions or addiction issues.
- Māori and Pacifica aged 55-64 who reside in Otago.
Getting vaccinated helps reduce your risk of serious illness and hospitalisation. We encourage everyone who qualifies to take advantage of this opportunity.
