Mental Health Services
The Southern Rivers Community Mental Health Team provides both acute and non acute mental health community services for people aged 18 years and over who have been diagnosed with a significant mental illness.
While the service is operated by the Southern District Health Board, the Southern Rivers Community Mental Health team is situated next door to the hospital in Balclutha, operating out of 24 Clyde Street.
The onsite team consists of Psychiatric District Nurses, a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor, a Social Worker, a Occupational Therapist, a Visiting Psychiatrist and Psychologist for Adults, Child and Youth workers and a Visiting Psychogeriatrician all supported by onsite administration staff.
