Introduction

Clutha Health First is a community-owned healthcare provider dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of people across the Clutha District. We provide a wide range of hospital, community, and general practice services for residents and visitors, ensuring quality care is close to home.

Our focus is on delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare that meets the needs of individuals and whānau at every stage of life. Our services include maternity care, radiography, laboratory services, physiotherapy, the surgical bus, and outpatient clinics—all in one convenient location.

Our Balclutha facility

Our Balclutha facility has 14 inpatient beds supporting acute care, stabilisation, rehabilitation, and palliative care, along with a dedicated family space. We also offer general practice services, a primary birthing unit and postnatal maternity beds to support local families.

Based out of our facility, our community team provides district nursing, occupational therapy, social work, needs assessment, and a day rehabilitation programme – our community team ensuring ongoing care beyond the hospital.

Serving approximately 17,000 people, we offer accessible, coordinated care. With a team of over 100 dedicated staff, Clutha Health First is proud to deliver professional, friendly healthcare that makes a real difference to our community.

The day to day operations of Clutha Health First is supported by a medium sized Administration team, spread throughout the hospital supporting all the operating services of the hospital and community services that Clutha Health First has to offer.
