Introduction

Our Inpatient team, staffed by Rural Hospital Medical Officers, Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants are dedicated to providing high-quality care for people across the Clutha District.

Working to the full extent of their skills and with a strong focus on rural health, the team supports adults requiring acute and general medical care, rehabilitation, and palliative services.

Service Offerings

Our Inpatient Ward is a modern 14 bed unit compiled of four single rooms and five two bedrooms all with ensuite, televisions, and modern comfortable amenities.

We deliver holistic care for our patients via an interdisciplinary team approach, consisting of onsite Nurses, Doctors, Clinical Needs Assessor, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Worker, and District Nurses.  Most importantly we value our patients and their family/whānau contributions to their healthcare within this team approach.

We liaise closely with other health providers within the Clutha District including our onsite community services team and/or Dunedin Hospital specialists to ensure a seamless transition of patient care between services.

We can provide urgent care when it’s needed in our a modern, well resourced highly equipped dedicated space designed to manage emergencies. Our resuscitation room and/or Medical Assessment Unit haves advanced technology to assess and stabilise patients. We also have the capability to connect , and we can also connect with specialist clinicians through telehealth, ensuring expert offsite support is available close to home when it is clinically as it is required needed.

Referrals and Service Access

Entry for Inpatient care is by referral from another health practitioner or health provider.

Our service is free to all patients who are eligible for health care in New Zealand hospitals.

Visiting Times

We ask you to respect our staff and patients by keeping to our visiting times between 2.00 pm - 8.00 pm daily.
