Emergency Department

Clutha Health First does not have an Emergency Department on site. Please do not self-present to the facility. The closest Emergency Department is in either Dunedin or Gore, both one hours drive away.

If your concern is an emergency, please call 111 and request an Ambulance.

General Practice After Hours Care

Clutha Health First provides an After Hours General Practice service for patients between 6pm and 9am daily. Access to this service is by appointment only.  Please call 4190500 and follow the voice prompts to be transferred to the After Hours Triage service, Whakarongorau.

A triage trained Registered Nurse will discuss your health concern and provide advice or arrange for you to be seen by one of our medical team.  Fees do apply for after-hours care.

Ka Ora Rural Telehealth After Hours Care

Rural communities now have access to another new service which supports rural General Practices to provide healthcare to patients in their communities after hours.  This service gives our patients another option of obtaining care when our practice is closed.

With Ka Ora, you can easily access a same-day phone or video consultation from the comfort of your home with Ka Ora’s dedicated Telehealth team. Ka Ora services are available from 5pm to 8am on weekdays and are accessible 24 hours on weekends and public holidays.

To access help from Ka Ora:

Calling 0800 2 KA ORA (0800 252 672). Available during at all service hours.

• You will first be greeted by a Kaiawhina or a Nurse. The team will assess your health needs, and you can either see a Clinician directly or you may also choose to schedule an appointment later in the evening.

• Available from 5pm to 10pm weekdays and 8am to 10pm weekends and public holidays.
• By booking an appointment, you will have a specific appointment time to connect directly with the medical team over phone or video. 
• If you need an urgent appointment after 10pm, please directly call the 0800 2 KA ORA number to connect with our overnight team.
